Most of the young techs are fresh out of school and have studied cardiac and vascular simultaneously. They are taught that 0 degree is optimal. I am old school, and teach 45-40 degrees for vascular imaging; ONLY less than 45 degrees if you cannot heel/toe the vessell; such as, carotids diving deep at 90 degrees, etc.
