A farmer client called me yesterday to ask me about what I knew about this website: http://www.vermontcurrentuse.com/ Apparantly, owners of Current Use Enrolled properties (or perhaps Farm Bureau Members?) received a solicitation letter over the weekend suggesting that they subscribe to this newsletter to monitor what the legislature does with the Current Use Program this legislative session. While there will be other ways to keep up on this topic such as the general media and talking directly with your legislators, the newsletter may be useful for some people and the website does offer some useful information and links. One of the more useful links is concerning the proposed plan the the VT Land Trust, the VT Farm Bureau and other groups are intending to put forward to the legislature: http://www.vlt.org/CU-propSummary-Dec2009.pdf Mike Ghia Ewetopia Farm Grazing, Soil, Crop, and Farm Business Planning and Consulting UVM/Intervale Farm Viability Business Planner UVM Grazing Technical Assistant Associate with Land for Good (www.landforgood.org) PO Box 276 Saxtons River, VT 05154 [log in to unmask]
