I had a pair of goldfinches yesterday in the tree behind the Lab where I
work!!!!

Holly - I had a similar situation a few of years ago.  The consensus was
that the bird had "skipped" its post-breeding molt.  Apparently this
does occasionally occur.  It is interesting that your report is also for
a goldfinch.

This morning at our feeders, for the second time in a month, I saw a
male
goldfinch in full breeding plumage. Does anyone know why this might be?
I've never seen it before.
