Hi Mike,

Yes we do volume flows. If it is a graft, I try to take the measurement in
an area that is relatively straight with a clean laminar flow profile. This
usually winds up being about mid-way on the graft. If it is a fistula,
again I look for a nondilated segment with as uniform a profile as I can
find. This is at least 5-6 cm away from the AV anastomosis. I usually
repeat the flow calculation 2-3 times and often report the average.

Subject: flow volume measurements for AVF grafts

Any RVT's out there do flow volume measurements on AVF grafts? if so what
location do you take the measurement at in the graft? we have a surgeon
requesting this. I have scanned many AVF grafts just never have had to do
flow volumes measurements before.

Thanks,

Mike, B.S. RVT
