The earlybird registration and scholarship application deadlines for the North East Region Workshop (Pittsburgh, PA, from November 5 to 7, 2010) are rapidly approaching! Earlybird rates are only available until September 30th, and are $90 for Students, $160 for Professional Members, and $175 for Professional Non-Members. A total of ten scholarships are available to members of the EWB-USA North East Region. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide a portion of registration and travel related fees for student and professional members wishing to attend the 2010 EWB-USA Northeast Region Workshop. Scholarship recipients will receive $100 each. A total of ten scholarships will be awarded, two of which will go to a member of a developing chapter. We are pleased to announce that our Saturday keynote speaker is Dr. Robin Podmore, President of Incremental Systems and IEEE Fellow. For more than 40 years, Dr. Robin Podmore has dedicated his career to the development of computer applications for power system operations and planning. As Co-chair of the IEEE PES Community Solutions Initiative, Dr. Podmore advocates a virtual community and a Sustainable Energy Reference Architecture so that open source electric generating solutions using solar, wind and human energy can be affordable to those earning one to two dollars a day. The title of Dr. Podmore's keynote talk will be: "The Community Solutions Initiative – Forming IEEE and EWB-USA partnerships for powering developing communities."

If you or your chapter is interested in giving a presentation at the Northeast Region Workshop, please let us know. Topics can vary from EWB-USA related work, your chapter's project(s), lessons learned in chapter management, or anything else that you may think would be useful to share with other chapters.
