Amy,

So am I.  But this listserve is the one that “outsiders” can look in on!   So, be afraid.  Be very afraid

I, for one, am thankful for this listserv and how it’s helped in my position! It’s easier and faster than picking up the phone and bothering you all with my questions J

I don’t think that is what people mean.  SOMETIMES, it is easier to vent or seek advice if the world doesn’t see your email.  SOMETIMES this job is difficult and it is nice to know there is some place to go that you can get support from.  I personally think this listserv is a great place to get answers and THE ORGANIZATION is one I am PROUD to be a member of.

I guess I’m just too open because I don’t feel I have anything to discuss that needs be hidden from the public.  Do you folks in the VMCTA also have a secret hand shake????

Yes, but they would have to know what we were discussing!  That is why it is not always a good idea to forward a VMCTA e-mail discussion to the muninet address or to someone not on the VMCTA list serve.  That helps protect all of us.

But, if the “outside” world wants to know can’t they just ask for copies of all e-mails under the public information statutes?

Clerks, Treasurers and assistants:  The ability to access the  VMCTA listerve is based on your membership standing with the VT Clerks and Treasurer’s Association every year.  Here is the link to the VMCTA website which lists the current membership list (since muninet will not allow attachments)   http://www.vmcta.org and click on committees then select membership and scroll down the page to find the latest list of members. Please review to see if your municipality has paid and if we have your correct e-mail.  If it is correct, I do not need to hear from you (unless you want to say hello).  We will start to use these e-mail addresses for the VMCTA list serve as of Friday so if your name is not on the list, you will no longer be able to access the system after Friday.  So please make sure that your membership has been paid.   Only those people who have joined the association by paying their membership will be on the VMCTA list serve.  If the membership is not paid and you wish to remain on the list serve until I receive your membership check or you have any questions please e-mail me directly at [log in to unmask] so that we don’t bother everyone else on the VMCTA list.

Why be on the VMCTA list serve when you have muninet?  VMCTA list serve is only available to clerks, treasurers, and their assistants so that we may hold conversations that are not viewed by anyone outside of our organization.  Hopefully this helps everyone in our association to be able to speak their thoughts without the “outside” world watching in.  There are no State Agencies,  legislators, town managers, select board members, ….. who can subscribe to our list serve.

Just a friendly reminder to make sure that we always use proper e-mail etiquette.

Thanks.

Donna
