The following workshops are offered by the VT Center for Geographic 
Information in collaboration with UNH Extension. Please note that they are NOT 
designed for people with NO experience using GPS, Google Earth, or GIS. 

1. Google Puts the "G" in GPS:  10/12/10 Colchester, VT; 10/13/10 Waterbury,
VT; 10/14/10 Norwich, VT, 9 AM to Noon, $50

Learn to bring GPS data into Google Earth, and just as easily, put features
from Google Earth into your GPS! Learn to collect GPS data in the field,
then use it to create your own custom map using Google Earth. Also, discover
how to take any location from Google Earth and send it to your GPS receiver
navigate to that point in the field.

Participants will be provided with exercise manuals, workshop data, GPS
units and laptop computer with relevant software installed.

2. Trail Mapping with GPS:  10/12/10 Colchester, VT; 10/13/10 Waterbury, VT;
10/14/10 Norwich, VT, 1 PM to 4 PM, $50

Learn to how to map trails using handheld GPS units! The workshop begins
with a discussion of best practices for mapping tails with GPS. Next, the
course moves out to provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to
practice mapping trails. Finally, we finish up mapping newly collected
trails and features using Google Earth or free GIS software.

Participants will be provided with exercise manuals, workshop data, GPS
units and laptop computer with relevant software installed.
