Hi Eugenie (and other garlic growers) if you or other growers see symptoms of the suspected problem worse in one specific field or variety it would make sense to send only a sample from that field/cultivar, but if you have only a limited number of funky looking bulbs or if the symptoms are in several fields/varieties then aggregate to make a sample of 10. the 2 healthy bulbs are just to see if there are 'non-symptomatic' bulbs that have the pest but do no show symptoms. These should be in a separate plastic bag If bulbs prove to be infested they should definitely not be sold for seed! and I would not recommend they be replanted, either. They can be consumed/sold for culinary use. Please do remember to put the bulbs inside 2 ziplock bags, labeled with your name on outside and a paper tag inside with bulbs. I will need to receive the sample by this Thursday, to mail Friday, to expedite getting results back. thanks, Vern Eugenie Doyle wrote: > Vern, > Some questions just to clarify what bulbs to send so the results will be > useful-- they want to test 10 bulbs from the same field, not necessarily the > same variety, is that right?
