Here’s an idea. Anyone planning on running should schedule a day off for the day after town meeting. That way they can appoint an assistant who can at least keep the office open minimal hours until they can take office. Perhaps they could appoint you or your assistant for that interim period.
I will not be running in March for Town Clerk/Treasurer and my term will be up on election day. What happens if the newly elected clerk/treasurer has to give two weeks notice at her current job before starting here? Who keeps the office open? How would you handle this? Thanks, Nancy
