Yeah… How easy is that $100 to collect?  I can’t even get them to pay the regular fee…

And I was told more than once last year that I was ‘insensitive’ because I didn’t know their dog had recently died when the ‘you may be fined’ letter was sent.  Although I did ask them to please disregard if that were the case, I guess not giving my condolences for bringing up such a painful memory to the bereaved was just too much to bear...

I’m contemplating a town-wide dog survey this upcoming year.

Brattleboro’s town ordinances state that if dogs are not licensed the owner may be fined $100.

Hi Everyone,

Do you know if towns are allowed to tack on a penalty, in addition to the 50% late payment fee, for dogs that are not licensed by April 1st? The cost to the town of paying the constable to track down unlicensed dog owners is more than the relatively insignificant late payment fee.

Thanks,

Martha
