Subject: Re: UVM Email on Verizon ENV Phones
I just had a staff member with the same problem. She has a Droid Incredible. I managed to get it to work by changing the imap server info. In your email account settings change the security from SSL to TLS and make sure the port number is 143 not 993. Once I made the change email functionality resumed.
Hope this helps - Geoff

I have been receiving a similar message on my phone (Verizon Droid) since yesterday AM. "Cannot safely connect to server" when I try to update my in-box.
I will be interested in what you or others find out.

Hi,
Since the need to accept the new certificate yesterday morning my email on my phone has not worked, we have also had someone contact the helpline with the same issue on their phone. I have tried deleting the account from my phone and recreating it, but I keep getting a cannot connect to server message, which I never used to get. I am sure that all of the server settings are correct. The is never any box about a certificate that pops up.
If someone would actually like to try to get email to work on my phone I will be in the Waterman basement working at the helpline from 8-11 on Thursday and could drop my phone off in someone’s office. Once a solution is figured out for my phone I can take care of helping the other person who contacted the UVM Helpline.
