I wanted to remind middle school teachers in VT
about the summer three day TI-Nspire session available at South Burlington High
School on Aug 8-10. There is a session being offered just for middle
school teachers. TI has a history of providing high quality mathematics
opportunities. There is an actual national program called Math Forward
that TI has been doing for several years where T^3 instructors go into districts
and work over a period of time with middle school teachers to develop quality
programs. As a consequence, TI has developed some really great materials
for the middle school level. Certainly, some of those will be used in the
summer three day. A reminder that the three days costs $350. For
that price a teacher gets about $300 worth of hardware and software. The
special price for schools or districts (get 6 for the price of 5) ends
at the end of May. At this time the high school session is a definate
go. The middle school session has 6 registered and needs 15 to definately
be happening. So, if you are a middle school teacher (certainly if you
teach Algebra 1 in middle school) you might want to check this out. There
are only 37 sites in the US this summer and we are one of them! The
technology featured and included in the price of the course is the new
TI-Nspire CX. The handheld is a color handheld (a first for TI) and the
teacher edition software (included) includes a new feature called publish
view. You have to see it to believe what it can do. If you have
any questions, I can be reached at [log in to unmask]. Jean
