We cancelled the New York Times years ago, even though we have avid readers. We keep the Minneapolis Star Tribune. We get many current magazines donated by our staff members. Patients, visitors, family members enjoy reading them on their downtime.

Almost none, but every Library is different. My Library has not received a paper newspaper for some time (I've been here almost 2 years), and we subscribe to 2 general magazines: TIME and (for some reason that escapes me and I have not renewed it) Architectural Digest. As a Medical Library, our budget and focus is such that there is no real money to spare for general reading material, but the demand is not there as well. Hope this helps.

In collection development, how much of a priority would you place on the p=
urchase of newspapers and general magazines compared to the health and scie=
nces books and journals?

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you,
