Hi All,

We have an immediate opening for a postdoctoral position with the University of
Connecticut’s Department of Marine Science to study the fate of nitrogen-bearing
trace organics in coastal marine systems. The multi-disciplinary, multi-year
project involves the use of isotopic tracers in mesocosms and field studies. It
includes elements of isolation, quantification, and stable isotopic
characterization of various compounds in water, sediments, and biota. The postdoc
will be expected to contribute to experimental design, method development, and
serve as the analytical coordinator for the project. Experience in any of the
following: HPLC, GC-MS and IRMS is preferred.   A strong background in any of
the fields of organic chemistry/geochemistry, natural products
isolation/identification, or environmental organic contaminant chemistry would
be appropriate for this position.  The successful candidate will work alongside
organic chemists, ecosystems ecologists, and isotope biogeochemists in the
Department of Marine Science, located on Long Island Sound, using the
Department’s new analytical and Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS) labs.

Please contact Dr. Penny Vlahos ([log in to unmask]) or Dr. Craig Tobias
([log in to unmask]) with a C.V. and letter of interest.  We intend to fill
this position on a fairly short time line
