July 22, Simms Point, Grand Isle.
Two quiet Ospreys present -- none of the usual alarm notes.
The top of the nest stump is barren -- possibly cleaned off
by high winds. No sign of the chick, hatched June 22nd,
and present as recently as last Friday, July 15th.
The nest tree, originally surrounded by water, has been
high and dry for a long time now.

15 July: 1 Barred Owl in the grove of trees 100 yds from the
nest -- and shooed away by me through two more woodlots.
22 July: one Red-tailed Hawk flyby 1/4 mile from the nest.
