Subject: [Announcement] THATCamp New England Oct 21-22nd

Hello,
The second annual THATCamp New England will be held at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, on Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22. THATCamp ("The Humanities and Technology Camp") is a conference to discuss how technology is influencing teaching, research, and service at universities and colleges. THATCamp New England 2011 is being hosted by Brandeis University with the generous support and sponsorship of NERCOMP.

The conference will have two parts. First, the conference will have seven workshops, three on Friday afternoon and four on Saturday. These hands-on, instructor-led sessions will introduce participants to the basic skills, tools, and concepts of the digital humanities, with no prior experience required or assumed.

We are pleased to offer a number of micro-fellowships to graduate students, pre-tenure faculty, librarians, archivists, museum professionals, and educational technologists, ranging from $200 to $500, to support your attendance at these workshops. For more on the workshops and fellowships, please see this web page: http://newengland2011.thatcamp.org/about-thatcamp-new-england-2011/bootcamp/.

Second, on Saturday there will be a number of "unconference" sessions. Participants will propose session topics on the conference website in advance. On the morning of the conference, participants will vote on the topics to create the schedule for the rest of the day. Participants will then organize discussions or work together on various technologies, rather than reading and responding to papers.

Please see the conference website for more details and to apply: <http://newengland2011.thatcamp.org/>. You can also contact the organizer, Lincoln Mullen <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>>. The application deadline is September 16.

Thank you
