NERC Cosmogenic Isotope Analysis Facility (CIAF) based at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC)
The NERC CIAF hosted by SUERC seeks to appoint a post-doctoral scientist at either Associate (Grade 7) of Fellow (Grade 8) level. The successful candidate will join a team of 2 scientists and 2 technicians reporting to the SUERC Director of Research as Head of Facility. Overseen by an external Steering Committee appointed by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the CIAF delivers sample preparation and accelerator mass spectrometer measurements of the cosmogenic nuclides 10Be, 26Al and 36Cl in applications in the Earth and Environmental Sciences. Educated to Ph.D. level, the successful candidate will have experience of samples preparation for isotope geochemistry; ideally, but not necessarily, in CIA. Strong interpersonal skills, an enthusiasm to engage with a diverse user-community and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects are essential to a successful role within the CIAF. SUERC is a research facility operated jointly by the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh and the successful candidate will be an employee of the University of Glasgow.
