"Disrupting what actually happens in the classroom by instituting student-centric technologies is vital to customize learning for each individual student and to improve motivation for all." -Christensen, Clayton, Curtis W. Johnson and Michael B. Horn. Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns. New York: McGraw Hill, 2008.
From brand-new apps to easy browser access in SMART phones, tablets and more, mobile devices bring a new teaching tool into the classroom, enabling even large-lecture classes to shift pedagogical strategies. Although there is much work being done on the use of mLearning outside the classroom, this session will explore specific classroom uses of mobile technologies, including case presentations that identify pedagogical challenges, strategies implemented with mobile technology, resulting data (where applicable) and recommendations for future use. Current research into the value and potential for mLearning to increase student understanding, interaction with instructors and other learning objectives within the classroom will also be explored.
