Does the center have an unsecured wireless network?  If not, the student would have to have the key to access the network, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Happy New Year!

Did you try simply disabling the network adapter and the wireless device through device manager?  Then just set up a user on the laptop itself, rather than using a profile that you normally would use on the network.
