I had my students use regular headsets with the microphone attached.  I used a splitter to make it work. The students were either in the classroom or sitting in a desk just right outside the classroom to record a book they were reading.  I've done this with two second grade classes.  We didn't seem to have a problem with the playback of the audio just using the head sets with the microphone attached.

I have some teachers would like to use our iPads to record running records for their students.  Does anyone have suggestions for good quality, but reasonably priced headsets.  We'd like ones that will do some noise canceling so that the students don't have to sit in a closet to record.  Thanks!
