Good to know! We ordered a Samsung and we weren't impressed with the hardware at all. We are waiting to see if new hardware is introduced in the next few months. Running the OS through Parallels has been pretty impressive but we using it a primary OS at a large scale is a whole different thing. As far as what you can do with them, we had planned on keeping a mix of devices so that should the class requirement for the project be primarily web related, they could grab the Chromebooks. iPads for more creative endeavors. We'll see. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Flimsy... keyboards especially (shared use though thus far, not an individual machine)

Web centric device, not much you can do on it otherwise... which we knew.

Proving buggy, so the IT Dept has said thus far, to image.

That's what's up here so far with them.

Thanks for the information. I'm curious what wasn't working well. Do you know any general issues?

Talk to BBA high school about their time with Chrome books, they had had some really big issues.

We are not currently using them but we have been considering getting
Chromebook carts due to cost, ease of management and our current use of
Google Apps. They run on a Linux base and are fairly snappy. for most uses. I
would not recommend them for an environment that may be working on projects
that include a lot of media, like video editing, photo editing or music creation.
For things like web research, document creation and collaboration, they are quite
wonderful. I'm also interested to see if anyone has Linux carts and what their
experience has been.
