United States Universities Debate Championship Expansion Initiative – Final Call – Now Accepting Applications for Judges and/or Individual Teams with Limited BP Experience
The text below is from the previous call, but please note that applications are now being requested from schools that are bringing debaters or teams with very limited experience in BP (even if the program as a whole has more
experience). We are also now welcoming applications from DOF’s or assistants who would like to attend the national tournament to judge and learn more about the BP format.
The Linfield College Forensics Program, in coordination with the Willamette University Debate Union, seeks to provide opportunities for colleges and universities with relatively novice British-Parliamentary (BP) debate programs to attend the United States Universities
(USU) Debate Championships hosted by Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, April 13-15, 2012. The funds are intended to subsidize travel, participation/registration fees, judging expenses, and lodging for twenty teams at $900 per team. The primary goal of
these grants is to provide financial assistance for colleges and universities who have limited BP tournament experience to attend the 2012 USU championship tournament. Criteria for selection include no prior participation in the international Worlds tournament
and limited overall experience in BP debate (participation in no more than three BP debate tournaments as a program).
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Note that this is a FINAL CALL for applications and we still have funding available to support approximately 8 teams. Please use the attached application form and contact Jackson B. Miller ([log in to unmask]">[log in to unmask])
for any additional information.
