For those of you who have gone 1:1 with iPads or are allowing teachers to install free apps on their own, how are these apps being installed?  Are teachers making the purchases directly on an iPad, or are they purchasing them through iTunes on their computer and then syncing, either wired or wirelessly, with the iPad(s)?  How is it working either way?

My second question is, has anyone created a district-level iTunes account for district owned iPads and apps?  If so, how have you handled installing apps and syncing?  Does one district-level IT person control the installs and updates, or do building level teachers/IT people have access to the account to update and add free apps as they choose?  (All of the actual purchases would be handled through a district-level volume purchase program.)
