Hi - my sister and I observed a black crowned night heron perched on a
piling on the south side of the ferry pier in Burlington on Lake
Champlain on Sunday evening around 7:30 - 8:30. It was about 15 or 20
feet from that noisy restaurant, Breakwaters (no offense intended) and
remained there for at least an hour, with a band playing, people
coming and going, etc. . I've only ever seen these guys hiding in
marshes. What is with their being out in public like that? Is this
common?
Thanks.
