MEDLIB-L, initiated in 1991 by Nancy Start and 
sponsored by MLA since 1995, with 2,065 
subscribers, seeks a new coordinator. Christine 
F. Marton is stepping down from this role at the 
end of August. The initial appointment will be to 
finish the remaining two years of the current term (October 2012–October 2014).

With a team at MLA headquarters, the MEDLIB-L 
coordinator handles policy and education issues 
for MEDLIB-L. This includes instructional and 
policy messages (both public and more often to 
individuals) as well as responsibility for the 
which govern appropriate postings and etiquette. 
Technical issues, including subscription 
problems, are handled through MLA headquarters. 
The list is generously hosted by the University of Vermont.

Requirements for this position include ongoing 
access to the Internet, experience with email 
lists, good knowledge of various email systems, 
current MLA membership, and an excellent sense of humor.

The coordinator will:
    * receive and respond to questions directed 
to the MEDLIB-L owner and assist and educate 
subscribers in the use of commands in areas such 
as subscribing to, renewing a subscription to, 
replying to messages on, and sending messages on MEDLIB-L
    * educate subscribers by providing 
information they need to make best use of the 
list. and prepare and maintain welcome and farewell administrative messages
    * remind subscribers of polices set for the 
list to maintain focus; regularly post the 
MEDLIB-L guidelines; and as necessary and in 
concert with headquarters staff, suggest 
revisions to the guidelines for posting on MLANET
    * address new problems as they arise and 
suggest appropriate policies for handling these 
issues in the future, and as necessary, work with 
headquarters staff to address and resolve technical issues and problems
