The Warren Group is a privately (family run) held company in the Boston area, and I believe they have been in business since the 1870's or 1880's.
it is my understanding they are a real estate and financial industry information provider, and sponsor of many trade shows.

I received a letter from the Warren Group in early October stating they are a premier realestate information provider in the Northeast.  They stated the purpose of the letter is to rent, borrow or purchase a copy of images or microfiche of all the Town mortgages, mortgage assignments and mortgage discharges filed between January 1, 2005 to current date.  At the bottom of the letter they said they are under contractual obligations to gather this data and if I don't partner with them to provide this information they will use their own resources to collect it.

Since then I have received an e-mail that they have asked me to post concerning hiring a temporary public record data collector.

Has anyone heard of this organization and or received the same letter?  Are they a legitimate company?  How have you responded to their request?

Thank you,

The man I spoke to said they are not copying the records (don't want to pay the price).  They are hiring people to come in and write the data down.  They are also trying to get us to help them hire people (not my job).

Is it just me or are others also more than a little uncomfortable about what The Warren Group is proposing to do – mainly copying years of our land records to turn it into real estate data so they can they can then sell it over and over again for a hefty profit on their website?
