A quest for owls last evening found four species, though for much effort
could not find a fifth.

A Short-eared Owl flew up from a snowdrift by large open fields near the
western end of Nortontown Road in Addison.

An Eastern Screech Owl was calling from a wooded slope by a frozen Dead
Creek headwater along Townline Road in Addison.

A Barred Owl in a tree at the western end of Townline Road in Bridport
stared at me for a while before flying off.

Two Great Horned Owls counter-called loudly in woods by our home in
Cornwall.
