I'm a casual birder, so I have a question about pine grosbeaks. I'm pretty sure I'm seeing them enjoying berries at Collins-Perley in St. Albans. But most have the subdued plumage of females and juveniles. Can there be disproportionate flocks, or do males have winter plumage? Why no red?
Thanks for your expertise,
Angel
