Both East and West have old fashioned and new fashioned lodges:Smuggs, MRG, Pow Mow, GoldMiners' Daughter, Whitewater, Red, Mansfield BL, SBN all have that old-timey feel. Snowbasin, Spruce, SBS, Deer Valley, Stratton have a fancier feel. Both styles have plusses and minuses and are found everywhere. It's not an East vs. West thing. The Tupac vs. Biggie scenario is played out.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SkiVt-L is brought to you by the University of Vermont. On Wed, Mar 13, 2013 at 9:24 PM, Leigh Daboll <[log in to unmask]> wrote:
Yes, I have taken photos of the Snowbasin lodges (both main lodges) including the bathrooms, especially the apparently real copper/bronze/gold fixtures... WTF???Gotta agree, it ain't exactly roughing it there.Earl Holden's sister lodge at the top of Sun Valley is equally as impressive in a more old money sort of way (note the ten different toppings and china plates):Of course, at Sun Valley, this is the kind of jaw dropping (and not in a good way) stuff you take clandestine photos of, since no one will otherwise believe you (both photos taken on the same sunny March day on an epic 2008 roadtrip):J. Subject: Re: [SKIVT-L] VPR Commentary on skiing in VTI was going to mention that but you beat me to it Marc. What a fabulous lodge. I don't know how many people I have run into that actually take pictures of the bathrooms (me included) because you wouldn't believe the quality of the finish. The food is great also and pretty reasonably priced.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SkiVt-L is brought to you by the University of Vermont. In a message dated 3/13/2013 4:57:31 P.M.
