What I find ironic about that is that it's hard enough for the Phlebology community to determine "hard and fast" criteria or consensus on a litany of things, yet the IAC does/has? Just a humble observation :)

I can absolutely agree with IAC and their reasons for having hard and fast criteria. We all should have a black and  white criteria in our lab as to what determines reflux.

Plain and simple here.  Our surgeons did not like when we tried to tell them that the reflux is mild or severe.  They want to know if the patient has reflux or not, where it is, where it comes from, and they then correlate that with the patient's presenting condition to determine treatment.   I am pretty sure that IAC/Vascular discourages using mild, moderate, and severe (too subjective).

We use the standard criteria for reflux,  >.5sec is "reflux". Some of my reading physicians read "severe reflux > than 3 seconds" when they dictate. I guess they he figure if .5 s is reflux then 6 times that would be severe reflux, but this caused a little hiccup with our reaccreditation since I don't in fact have criteria that states what is mild, moderate or severe. I thought I had a reference for less than one second was mild less than 2 seconds moderate and greater than 2 severe but I can't find it anywhere.
Anybody else use a range or are yall sticking with >.5s is reflux, plain and simple.
