Amy and all:

What it would look like for teacher and students..

The way we are going to structure it is this..

Each school group-teacher and students will have a table or space in our space to show their "project" or be able to show something on a computer screen.. we have a new location this year but our hope is that we have wall space to project from our space with each group having that small wall space.. We also have two large flat screen monitors that we can share with all.. so, throughout the day, the students would be showing and answering questions from people that come by the booth.. Then throughout the day, we are coordinating individual "shows" that will showcase for a broader audience what the group is working on or has done. So, for example.. your group might have a showcase event at 11:45 for 15 minutes. Then go back to the booth and continue answering questions.. etc.

Again.. the unknown here, though I am scheduled to get with Seven Days soon, is that we are at Memorial this year and not at Winooski mill. So I don't have a sense of what our space looks like yet.

We would love to have you come!

Call me if you want more details..

Peter

Subject: Re: TEchJam 2013--STEM initiatives sought...

Hi Peter:
Do you have any more info about what this would look like for a teacher and students? Would they have a slot of time at the AOE "booth" during the day on Friday or ....??
I would very much like to have 1 or 2 small Burlington Elem groups (perhaps student partnerships) involved but it is a tough date for us. Teachers are involved in Parent Teacher Conferences and students are off. Likely it would be me and a couple of kids if I can make it work. So more information would be of help.

Thanks,
Amy

Hi all:

So, TechJam 2013 is coming up and once again the AOE has a sponsored booth where we'd like to showcase schools embarking on any aspects of a STEM curriculum. We have schools that are bringing some students, from Central portions of Vermont, but would like to have folks from some of the more outlying areas represented too.

Do you have any kind of STEM initiatives or projects going on at your schools?

Would one or two of your teachers be interested in bringing a couple of students to the TechJam in Burlington on Oct. 18 (Friday) OR Saturday the 19th to showcase the work your school is doing?

What sort of project based learning projects are going on in your school? Maybe the teachers involved would like to share?

Anyways.. Can folks on the list here pass this along?

The website for Tech Jam is here.. it is a great opportunity for students anyways.. last year we had one of our volunteer students get an internship from one of the companies represented...

Contact me off list if you can point me to some possible connections on this....

Thanks..
