Funny- I was just working with a French teacher yesterday who had the same question.  My research dug up this, which may be helpful--

Do your students currently use Alt codes for special characters?  I just checked with our Spanish teachers, and they report that the Alt codes "usually" work in Google Docs.  Kind of a pain on non-desktops, though.

Does anyone know of an easy way for students to add accent marks when keyboarding Spanish in Google Docs? Also, some of our students have a Spanish Spell check turned on, and some don't. How do I activate this feature for everyone? Thanks.
