Subject: Re: Computer Science Week (Hour of Code)

St. Albans City School is getting involved with a day-long, school-wide (PreK-8) event on December 9th. Throughout the day, students and teachers will be engaging in unplugged activities, digital activities, and presentations.

I'm throwing a website together with the resources we'll be using. If you're interested, you are welcome to use it as you see fit. (The website will be finished by Monday, December 2nd.)

Thanks for that shout out Jack Clay and others on this event. There is something going out to school leadership today on the Weekly Field Memo about it and well make a bigger splash about this in the WFM next week to get attention.. (thisweek not great for attention-getting).

If you are planning something special that week perhaps in connection with a STEM initiative or a particular Computer Science course, we would love to showcase that event via some of our social media. Please let me or Angela Ross know(CCd here as well) about that event and we can help to promote in your region.

Here is a link to the Proclamation signed this month by your Governor.

There are some efforts on the State front to revisit the Computer science endorsement and as I visit schools involved in STEM initiatives, I hear more and more from schools looking to include this curriculum in the near future.

Look forward to hearing more about your efforts locally..

Peter
