I'm writing to this list because people subscribed here are interested and invested in educational technology in Vermont.
Have you heard of the Hour of Code? Governor Shumlin has proclaimed December 9-15, 2013 as Computer Science Education Week and urges citizens to participate in the Hour of Code. This is a worldwide effort sponsored by code.org and many tech companies to introduce computer science to as many students as possible by providing a 1 hour, low stress introduction to programming. At the moment over 3,000,000 are signed up to participate, but outside of Rutland, no schools in Vermont appear on the sign-up list/map. Schools from across the globe, but only one in VT?
Check out http://csedweek.org/ and http://code.org/ All materials are available online.
I hope you all will seriously think about trying to get your schools involved.
