My guess is that those Are the number of schools with at least 1 classroom
Does that make more sense?
Hope your teachers sign up on the Think About Code Vermont site too and add pictures to the Vermont virtual gallery.

Let's make a Vermont splash!

I think those numbers need to be updated, there must be more than 40 classrooms participating!  We have 29 classrooms participating (whole school) and I think a few other responders are doing whole school projects as well.

I'm so excited that so many Vermont Schools are participating in Hour of Code.

According to Hour of Code site  there are over 40 Vermont classrooms participating.

Connected Voices has set up a WAY that all our Vermont Schools can share what they are doing by sending pictures, link, screenshots, descriptions to a common gallery
that we are calling Think About Code Vermont!

We are field testing the directions right now, but I thought I'd give you a sneak preview of what it will look like.

go to  and click on Think About Code Vermont link

Not only have we set up a place  where Vermont educators will be able to add to the gallery,  we have made Hour of Code the focus of our monthly Think About it Thursday prompts - where 4 Vermont educators share a new 'challenge'  for Vermont schools to participate on the first Thursday of each month.

So this Thursday,  there will be 4  new challenges all focused on Hour of Code released
- Early Elementary Challenge  hosted by Phyllis Tate
- Upper Elementary Challenge hosted by Matt Allen
- Middle School Challenge hosted by Eli Rosenberg
- High School Challenge hosted by Charlie MacFayden

I thought I'd send a sneak preview of what's coming, and will send out the official directions for you to send your teachers who are participating or WANT to participate in Hour of Code to contribute to the  Think About Code Vermont gallery!

I'm so excited.
Stay tune for an update later this week from Connected Voices

At Mt. Abraham some selected activities will be used in a couple of classes during the Hour of Code week.  Hopefully we can increase it to a school-wide level next year!

Hi All,

I'm writing to this list because people subscribed here are interested and invested in educational technology in Vermont.

Have you heard of the Hour of Code? Governor Shumlin has proclaimed December 9-15, 2013 as Computer Science Education Week and urges citizens to participate in the Hour of Code. This is a worldwide effort sponsored by and many tech companies to introduce computer science to as many students as possible by providing a 1 hour, low stress introduction to programming. At the moment over 3,000,000 are signed up to participate, but outside of Rutland, no schools in Vermont appear on the sign-up list/map. Schools from across the globe, but only one in VT?

Check out and All materials are available online.

I hope you all will seriously think about trying to get your schools involved.
