Here in Brookfield (pop 1200) one person holds both offices, but they are listed separately in the budget. I haven't seen the final budget numbers for the upcoming town meeting but currently the Town Clerk budget is $14,070.00 and the Treasurer budget is $16,320.00 per year.
 
We also have an Asst Town Clerk at $7750.00 per year - which does get used.
 
And an Asst Treasurer at $6,500.00 per year - which also gets used.

In Calais, the two positions are voted on separately and listed separately in the budget. Both have the same salary and the treasurer’s position includes anything and everything as listed in statute and in the treasurer’s handbook…and probably MORE!

For everyone out there who holds both clerk & treasurer positions, how are you paid? Does the budget show one salary for both positions or are you paid separately? And if you are paid separately for those, what responsibilities does the treasurer position include?
