RE:                  Office of Undergraduate Research Spring/Summer Awards

I wanted to remind you of several significant funding opportunities for undergraduates who are engaged in faculty-mentored research, scholarship, or creative endeavors. While we will no longer offer URECA! funding; instead we will expand the number of other research awards, especially the Summer Research Awards.

Mini Grants:  $500 (spring) or $1000 (summer) to cover research expenses for small projects or pilot studies. May be used in conjunction with other awards to cover larger costs.

International Research Award:  $1000 to help five students conduct research while abroad.

Summer Research Awards allow 20 students to focus on their research or creative endeavor through the summer by providing $3500 in wages and an additional $1500 for project costs. These awards make it possible to dedicate your time to your own scholarly interests rather than simply working at a summer job. Top candidates will be named Brennan Scholars!

Simon Family Public Research Fellowships encourage the direct collaboration among community partners, undergraduates, and faculty mentors by linking research to the purpose of solving a community-defined need or problem. Five students will each receive a $5000 scholarship to support themselves and their creative solutions.

Public Impact Research Awards help students who are taking unpaid or underpaid research or creative internships. Up to $2000 for personal and research related expenses.

·      International Research Award:  February 28

·      Summer Research Awards:  March 14
