Hi VTBirders,

The weather was perfect for birding in the Champlain Valley today, with the
water like glass, minimal heat distortion on the lake, and mild
temperatures.  A group of 15 birders joined the North Branch Nature
Center's "Lake Champlain Birding" trip, co-led by myself and Ali Wagner,
tallying an impressive roster of birds.  Some highlights from the trip are
included below, in no particular order (all observations entered in eBird).

Canvasback - continuing at Shelburne Bay
Gadwall - 3 at Shelburne Point
Ring-necked Duck - 1 at Shelburne Point
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 5, numerous locations
Long-tailed Duck - 4 at Charlotte Town Beach
Snowy Owl - 5 (RT 22A, Goose Viewing Area, Nortontown Rd, Atherton Rd,
Goodrich Corners Rd)
Red-breasted Merganser - Shelburne Point and Shelburne Town Beach
Common Loon - Charlotte Town Beach
American Kestrel - Goose Viewing area & field on the way to WAGS
