Young Hacks Academy (http://www.younghacksacademy.com) is a new problem-solving camp for 9-14 year olds. A blend of computer programming and leadership training, YHA focuses on how young people can use technology to solve today's greatest local and global problems. Campers--or as we call, our "Agents"--are tasked daily missions filled with design-based challenges in front of and away from a computer. The core curriculum revolves around the 4 Steps of Problem Solving: Understand; Plan; Create; and Review.

Young Hacks Agents are introduced to creative computing through Scratch software. Developed by MIT Media Lab, Scratch is a drag-and-drop visual learning environment that draws on basic computational concepts to allow agents to program their own interactive stories and animations. By weeks end, graduates of Young Hacks Agent Training will have sharpened their powers of creativity, imagination and collaboration, while making new friends along the way.

Our Counselors are beginning to field questions from students, particularly those interested in Computer Science/Programming camps or programs. Is there anything local? Any good resources I could point them to?
