As you say, this is an opportunity to expand on what we define as "digital
citizen." In schools, so often digital citizenship curriculum is limited to
online safety, anti-bullying, etc... and not the real issues we are
confronted with and how we make choices to be a contributing citizen in our
world to make it a better place. The multilayered issues Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar is talking about and the way he lays out his arguments makes
me think that maybe the term "digital citizen" isn't strong enough, or
maybe because I've branded that term to the limited curriculum in school
that I don't make the connections with what he is talking about and that
term.
