Subject: Primary and Secondary Level Science Educator Award!

Greetings,

I am writing to let you know about an award opportunity for science educators. The Entomological Foundation's mission is to build a future for entomology by educating young people about science through insects.

We offer two awards: Outstanding Educator in Primary Level Teaching and Outstanding Educator in Secondary Level teaching, referred to as the President’s Award sponsored by the Entomological Society of America. I have attached a flyer with more information. Please pass this flyer along to anyone you think would be interested in applying for the award, the deadline is July 16th.  I have also attached a word document with the same information.

The recipients will receive:

- A $400 donation made payable to the winner's school to purchase teaching materials required to expand the use of insects in the teaching curriculum;

- A $400 award paid directly to the winner for expenses associated with travel required to present a paper or poster on the use of insects in primary or secondary educational programs at a peer professional venue of their choosing;

- Gratis registration to attend ESA’s Annual Meeting; and

- An $800 award paid directly to the winner for expenses associated with travel, hotel arrangements, and all other costs associated with attending the ESA Annual Meeting.

These annual awards are presented at the ESA Annual Meeting. Teachers who win this award must be available to present a lesson plan at a symposium during the ESA Annual Meeting, which takes place in Portland, OR this year.

Thank you and have a lovely day!

Mariel Snyder
