I'll second Elizabeth's recommendation for WeVideo, but collaboration is only possible with the paid accounts.

One option is to break up the project and have kids process some parts with the MBP (taking advantage of iMovie features,) then export those and upload to WeVideo for the final edit.

I'm shepherding a teacher and with a video production project in a social studies 8th grade class. Her class just nailed a Garage band project to interview folks in their town. Now, on to video.

They have Mac Powerbooks in a cart they can use for barely enough time to finish editing, each kid with one computer for say three class periods, maybe a little "x peroid". But they can't take them home, and they want more time to edit after shooting.

The also each have Chromebooks they CAN take home.

Assuming they all have access to the same source footage after crew shooting on a jump drive...

I'm tempted to say use WeVideo on the Chromebooks, but I also know iMovie on the MBPs would be a smoother experience I think in terms of importing and exporting, better screens, etc.

Thoughts?
