Hi Rusti, A guy I work with has one of these (JVC HMU 150) <http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/821133-REG/JVC_GY_HM150U_GY_HM150U_ProHD_Handheld_Memory.html> that he says is great and has 2 XLR inputs. It's more like $2k but sometimes B&H has better prices for schools or perhaps you can find it elsewhere for less...
