From Evaluating to Marketing to Producing Beef: More Learning Opportunities at the 2015 VT Grazing & Livestock Conference
Woven through the conference are workshops and events around raising and marketing great beef. Our beef theme will kick off with a Meet & Greet with the VT Beef Producers board followed by a Beef Marketing Showcase Friday January 16. This FREE event is open to conference attendees AND the public. Each marketing organization will be presenting information about their beef programs to the group, with plenty of opportunities to follow up individually during our networking time. Light refreshments will be provided. On Saturday, January 17, Brett Chedzoy of Angus Glen Farms will describe his experience extending his grazing options and increasing profitability through silvopasturing. If extending the season to raise beef is your theme, Troy Bishopp will share the results of his project to use planned grazing and stockpiled feed into January (a note: Troy is finishing up his stockpiled feed this week!). If you are more focused on evaluating your finishing animals, let Joe Emenheiser of UVM Extension and grass-fed beef expert Ridge Shinn take you on a tour of live animals and carcass quality.
The Beef Marketing Showcase is sponsored by the VT Beef Industry Council and hosted by the VT Beef Producers Association.
In addition to our highlight on beef, the conference features workshops on forage, silvopasture, swine, dairy stockmanship, water quality, poultry economics, and more.
