Looks like you made the best of it Mark!

Here on the western CT coast we have maybe a foot.  Shoulda tried for a few turns like you did but had to settle for a couple of sips of sunshine instead.

That still doesn't mean that I cannot ski!  Jonathan helped me mount my new Dynafit set-up about 10+ days ago.  Dynafit haters are gonna' puke their brains out over this: Dynafit TL6 boots, Dynafit bindings, Dynafit Denali skis AND Dynafit skins specially pre-cut for the boards.  So, I found a chance to break them in today.   Out the door at 6:45am and WHOA, I felt like I was in the Selkirks sans a 120 Teutonic decibel blast in my face reminding me that "Mar-r-r-r-r-k, dees is ser-r-r-r-eeus beezniss, thees is nawt Noo-Inklinn" (interpretation: Mark, this is serious business, this is not New England).  This has been shouted at me before.  Well, next to my residence is the abandoned Central Mass Railroad, long overgrown.  So, I shuffled up the steep embankment breaking trail to the rail bed.  I observed cracking snow with every shuffle.  I tried to trigger a small avalanche from the top of the embankments on numerous occasions, but the slope concavities prevented that, though several other signs of instabilities were present.  The storm raged and I did a 1 hour round trip, threading my way through the Casacelli's empire where their trucks are parked (I think I have access rights to the old rail right-of-way....whatever, even if I didn't I was still harmless).

The storm raged and ultimately, I think we probably hit the 30" mark on the I-495 Frontier.  For lunch, I decided to go hut-to-hut......where Hut A was my condo residence and Hut B was the Hudson Mass Cumberland Farms convenience store.  This tour would amount to about 30 feet of vertical.....oh wait, that would be about 38 feet given that I had an 8 foot high embankment created by the plow to negotiate with.  So, I bought some seltzer water and went back along the abandoned railroad.

Well, I did my droning for the day and I had one more tour after dusk.  I figured on could skin on the sidewalks on the side streets to the Farley School Snowfields and then bushwack to my destination.  I did that and breaking trail was strenuous but good practice and I set a good pace.  Then I found that staying closer to the street was more efficient as I was able to skin on the debris from the passing plows.  I broke trail through the Farley School Snowfields and in back of the school, I took a compass bearing and was on my way skinning through the crotch deep untracked.  Whaddya' know, in the dark in the woods, I found the long abandoned Hudson & Lancaster Railroad - abandoned 110 years ago after having 2 trains run on it's route.  If you know about this railroad, you're a World Class Train Geek. More trail breaking ensued until I came upon some postholing that someone had done to my goal which was the Danforth Falls.....which I'd say is a whopping 5 feet high with about 10 CFS raging through it.  I did a little more exploring around the small pond behind the beaver dam before heading back to complete my 2 hour tour.
