I like Google sites, but you you need to make sure that you come up with a good graphical template: http://www.fhuhs.org/

Wordpress is a little bit more powerful, and requires a host (the cheep shared hosts should work fine) but make sure you stay on top of the updates.

Is anyone using a non-school specific web hosting company for their SU, District or School page? By school specific I'm thinking, Blackboard/Edline, SchoolWires, SharpSchool, Haiku.

I'm beginning to think with parent portals being hosted by student information systems, google classroom etc, maybe HUGE bulky website packages aren't needed anymore.

With some of these school specific packages running in to the multi $1,000/yr. Cheaper sites like Weebly, or Wix which may run $120-240/yr seem very appealing especially now that e-rate is also not available for web hosting.

Has any one "jumped ship" on these big packages for something "smaller" and cheaper, and have liked the results?
