Hello.

I found a solution to an issue that you or your coworkers may be having 
on Mac OS.

If you have an office file in a shared drive that you know is closed and 
no one else has it open at the moment, but you still get a prompt saying 
that the file is locked for editing, try deleting the temporary hidden 
file that is saved in the same directory. It will usually have "~$" 
before the file name.

To show hidden files on a mac: go to terminal and type or paste the 
following: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES , then 
relaunch Finder.
