One study, Good Fonts for Dyslexia  is review in Dyslexia the Gift Blog  and it suggests,  " Based on their findings, the researchers recommended Helvetica, Courier, Arial, Verdana and Computer Modern, based both on reading performance and subjective preference; and cautioned against the use of italic texts." There are also several "monospace fonts" in docs which might help make reading easier.

Will upvote having the option to add OpenDyslexic to docs.

As per Google Support's suggestion, I have submitted a feature request through Google for Work to have the OpenDyslexic font added to the font choices in the standard Google Apps suite. Perhaps you and/or your teachers/special ed staff would like to up-vote it.
