Spent some time driving around Conte NWR yesterday and was happy to find a
female Cardinal. First Cardinal for the year in Essex County for me. ( The
bird seemed so out of place ) while viewing her 2 male White-winged
Crossbills flew over. Out at Mollie Beattie Bog a Black-backed woodpecker
and 3 more White-winged Crossbills. A single Gray Jay on Tamarack road.
Juncos, Goldfinch, purple finch, R.B. Nuthatches and G.C. Kinglets
throughout.

At Island Pond VT.fish access an Eastern Phoebe was another surprise with
temps in the twenties. Must be the last one.
