LacCore and the Continental Scientific Drilling Coordination Office (CSDCO), funded by NSF, will offer the Drilling and Coring Summer Institute twice in summer 2016. 

The application deadline for both sessions is April 1, 2016.

What:  Two weeks of hands-on field, lab, and computer activities, lectures, and discussions
Who:  15 graduate students, postdocs, early career researchers in each session, led by Dr. Amy Myrbo with the staff of LacCore/CSDCO
Where: LacCore/CSDCO, Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota
When:  June 13-24 or August 8-19, 2016
How:  Most expenses are paid by NSF.  Participants pay only for their own travel and evening meals.
Why:  Learn methods and best practices in continental scientific coring and drilling; core handling and analysis; data, metadata, and sample curation; core-specific free software; radiocarbon age-depth modeling; image analysis; working with NSF and ICDP; designing and conducting meaningful broader impacts; more.

Applicants from all countries are eligible to apply; however, grants to support travel to and from Minneapolis are not available from LacCore/CSDCO.
