Hector,

Thank you very much for that information.  I will suggest that Google Play gets pursued within our domain especially if this would help with specific app needs.

You should be able to push the app from the Google Play store to only those students that need it.

Elizabeth I don't think it is a matter of being limiting, but pushing an app/extension that is not needed by all (think Special Education or other supports) or that have that splash screen that says a new app/extension has been installed.  Sometimes a reduction of clutter and distractions is desirable.

A free app that is a launchpad to a managed app that will only be used by a few students...  But yes, it looks like pushing it out to ALL Students may be necessary for this small group of students.  @Nancy - free app requested for limited use, not all Students.

Thanks for your input.

it wouldn't hurt for others to have multiple apps and extensions...why would you want to be so limiting?

Ray et al.,

Confirmed with Google Support that at this time there is no way other than OU.

So, how do others deal with pushing to managed OUs (only allow specific apps) for different groups with different needs?

Device management->Chrome->User Settings->Force-installed Apps and Extensions when there are Students/Staff that would fall into multiple OUs with different needs?

Thanks Ray.

Different OUs for different subsets of Students who are already grouped...I don't think I will go that way.  I may shoot Google Support a question.

BTW - I like the way Mac MDM/Profile Manager can push apps to individual users, groups or devices ;)

You can do this

DOMAIN OU -> Students OU -> 2016 OU -> 2016 SPECIFIC USER SUB OU

But if you want differential settings for 30 different users, then it would get a bit unwieldy.

Would be nice to be able to push the app from the dashboard, like you can from Google Play for specific android device, but to specific users within an OU.

However, I don't think there is a native way to do that, save for sub OU'ing.

If you get crickets here, always worth an email to Google support and a share back ...   ;)

Have students that are grouped by grad year.  Sub OU for specific app/settings.  It now looks like I may need to have Students (or devices?) in multiple OUs.
